This page is specifically for my personal projects that I have been doing for my university course. I love staged photography, adding my own spin on the world and my experiences. This is an genre of photography that I will continue to play with past my university career, so keep an eye on this space to see what wacky and wonderful things I can come up with!
I wanted to create a visual representation of Edmund Burke's definition of the Sublime,
“the void, darkness, solitude, and silence”.
Gregory Crewdson is definitely a source for my inspiration, as well as the natural landscape around me. The land transforms in my mind into imaginative and wondrous scenes that I wish to share with the world. Allow the mind to wander, and it might find something new in a familiar place.
The initial idea was to create a create a visual discussion on how two artists, when working collaboratively, affect each other’s work. Told in the form of a canvas and portrait. I achieved this by shoving a camera through a hole in a canvas and photographing local artists, Terri, and Captain Ants.
After some development, this project produced a photographic account on how artists work together in a single space and how we affect each others work, while also forming a beautiful narrative of an artists journey.
This is definitely an idea I would like to take further with better lighting and some developed knowledge of editing.
